The Social Employment Fund (SEF) is a key part of the Presidential Employment Stimulus (PES) Initiatives, funded by the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). As a Strategic Implementation Partner, SEF plays a crucial role in scaling Seriti’s agricultural programme and local Multi-functional Agri-nodes (MFAN) through our Work.Learn.Grow initiative. This program is not just about empowering small-scale producers with training, capacity-building, and knowledge-sharing. It’s about creating a ripple effect in the community, promoting sustainable agriculture, and creating shorter supply chains. It’s about making a difference that we can all be proud of.
The first phase of SEF, from July 2022 to July 2023, laid the groundwork, followed by the second phase from August 2023 to May 2024. During these phases, Seriti successfully recruited and engaged over 7,700 participants, focusing on food security, nutrition, greening and environmental activities. Participants received essential training and skills, enabling them to improve their employability and transition into sustainable livelihoods. The programme is implemented across five provinces: Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West, KwaZulu-Natal, and Gauteng. This is not just a project but a beacon of hope for the future.
The SEF empowers participants to work, learn, and grow, equipping them with the skills and opportunities needed for a brighter future. It provides a pathway to a future full of hope.
