The Citi Foundation Community Agri-Nodes Initiative is a transformative effort to build resilient, inclusive communities by developing sustainable, local food systems through community-based Agri-Nodes. Implemented by Seriti Institute, this initiative envisions a future where eco-friendly, circular food economies thrive—where food is grown, distributed, consumed, and reused in ways that protect the environment and empower people. It’s about fostering food justice, creating safe work environments, and ensuring all communities have access to nutritious, culturally appropriate food.
At the heart of this initiative is the empowerment of women in low-income communities. By providing training, tools, and support, the project helps women and youth become active players in agricultural value chains.

This vision is brought to life through a series of integrated, community-driven activities: community mapping, expert forums, agricultural training, enterprise registration, provision of inputs and PPE, infrastructure support, market access, and income generation. These components work together to create not just farms, but futures.
The Citi Foundation project initiative, implemented over a two-year period and concluded in October 2025, reached a total of 423 participants. Of these, 302 individuals received direct support through training, mentorship, and access to resources.
The initiative contributed to the establishment of 50 new farming enterprises, while 33 enterprises were supported with agricultural inputs, tools, and infrastructure. In addition, 31 agribusinesses were successfully assisted with legal registration processes. Most significantly, the project facilitated the creation of 147 new jobs, contributing to local economic stimulation and strengthening food security in underserved communities.
