GIS Mapping

At its core, GIS looks at understanding the location of things and how everything is interlinked and connected to each other – which enables us to develop a unique and inclusive approach linked to every decision made. It supports management and stakeholders to monitor and evaluate projects more effectively, allowing for more streamlined reporting and increased possibilities for learning and innovation.

“When looking at the world through the lens of GIS, where others see chaos, we see patterns, connections and intricate relationships”

Why GIS?

At Seriti, we have used GIS mapping to inform our strategic vision for each project from the initiation stage right through to the operational and close out stages.

Analyse and plan

GIS allows us to develop a comprehensive understanding of the scope, scale, and impact of each project – which is critical to determining the priority of each community’s needs.

Mobilise and Implement

We are able to:

  • Optimise the allocation of resources
  • Plan effectively and gain insight about where activities can be focused
  • integrate and analyse existing data
  • mobilise the community to help fill data gaps, and
  • develop a collaborative way to establish response options and objectives for each plan.

Monitor and Evaluate

Through the ongoing monitoring and evaluating functionality of GIS it is possible to accurately measure and evaluate the progress of a program or project, hence ensuring that our programs and projects are making a difference from both a short and long term perspective.

This unique and inclusive approach allows for more streamlined reporting that increases the possibilities for learning and innovation.

Strategic Advantage

Mapping is critical to understanding how and why the environment impacts individuals, but at an even more basic level, maps can provide powerful evidence of disparity.

Patterns that may not emerge in tables or that make much less of an impression when represented as summary statistics may be compelling to a wide audience when mapped.

By harnessing the power of GIS, patterns, connections and relationships are translated seamlessly into easy to use dashboard representations and map-based reports, which is an invaluable tool to evaluate the impact of interventions and to share progress with clients and communities
